The Supply Chain Human Resource Manager provides oversight of a broad range of functions over multi-shift distribution operations related to human resource management, employee selection, retention, employee relations, benefits, leaves, compensation, safety and other related areas.

To further provide detail of the requirements for the Human Resource Manager, this position requires the following:

  • Be the driving force behind the success of our continually growing initiatives

  • Serve as an ambassador of the UniFirst Corporation mission and brand, taking an active role to promote UniFirst internally and in the external market.

  • Display strong business acumen, staying current on HR management and the recruiting industry, talent pipeline and on competitors Talent Acquisition strategy.

  • Assist with annual creation and execution of the HR budget. Responsible for all Human Resource and Safety related responsibilities for the Owensboro Distribution Center

  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment

  • Oversee the recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, including the Affirmative Action Program and EEO records

  • Conduct training for management regarding policies and regulations

  • Oversee the performance evaluation process

  • Participate in employee relations counseling and team meetings

  • Understand and administer progressive discipline, in compliance with UniFirst Policies and Procedures

  • Keep updated and organized personnel files on all employees

  • Must be able to maintain extremely confidential information

  • Will be required to work overtime as necessary

  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Regarding the management of the Human Resource Staff, this position requires the following:

  • Supervise the area in planning, organizing, and directing daily operations and workflow

  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed

  • Assign work duties as needed

This position also requires the following:

  • Ability to take an active role in plant wide safety activities

  • Conduct periodic meetings with your employees (if applicable) to include safety related issues or items (Periodic could mean weekly, monthly, bi-monthly quarterly, etc.)

  • Authority to ensure that hazards are corrected or necessary changes to the safety and health management system are addressed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • 5+ years’ experience in Human Resource Management required.

  • Minimum of 2 years managing a team preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to react to shifting. priorities to satisfy employee and business needs.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills required.

  • Process-, policy-, and detail-oriented.

  • Technologically savvy with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong communication (oral and written) and listening skills.

  • Ability to successfully work as an individual or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge and background in employment laws and regulations.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, which includes the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instruction.

  • Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, both verbal and written.
